We moved here in November of 2004 and getting Started wasn't easy but thanks to our good friends Ann and Ed, a garden was born. Ann, by the way is known by her friends as the Queen of doo. She has supplied hundreds, if not thousands of gardeners with sheep doo from her farm. She and Ed probably bagged thousands of pounds of that stuff.
It was in January when we broke ground. Its amazing to see the transformation to now.

Clay soil, you say?
Yep, that's right. Under all that grass was the wettest hardest clay but don't fret, our good friend Paul (from Seattle), as a garden warming gift gave us two dump trucks of compost. YEE HAW! Look at the garden now. Thanks Paul !

A beautiful life
In the winter I am are always amazed at the beauty. Then comes spring, it is so exciting to see things come to life. Blooms of roses, irises, peonies and Lilacs have been just a few of the surprises we receive. Summer offers us even more, our garden shows us how happy it is by providing us with an abundance of wonderful produce.
I think the biggest lesson I've learned in transforming my life as a "city girl" to a "farm girl" is about the interdependence of community. We all have something to offer each other. And we all touch one another's lives in different ways. Its a matter of opening ourselves to the opportunities of the friendships around us.
